“Save energy - Save Earth!”. The Philippines joined the over 70 countries that participated in the global movement to save mother Earth. Earth Hour is a 60 minute lights-off initiative to conserve energy. Less electricity consumed means less burning of fuels by power plants. The Philippine movement was a success.
Last year, 29 March 2008, the Philippines joined countries around the world in participation of Earth Hour. Now, 28th of March 2009, marks the third year of Earth Hour- an event that will fuel awareness on climate change and prove that when the people of the world work together, they can make a difference in the fight against global warming. Last year, Earth Hour took place from 8 to 9 in the evening on a Saturday night. A total of almost 80MW(MegaWatts) was saves all around the world, approximately equivalent to shutting down one fuel power plant. Now, Earth Hour will happen at 8:30 - 9:30 PM.
